Install A Fence Before You Begin Making Improvements To The Backyard

Posted on

When you have an empty backyard, you do not have to worry about damage to the landscape. If you intend on making improvements to the landscape and adding outdoor features, you should consider what you can do to protect these new additions to your property. While surveillance cameras and motion-sensor lighting will help, you can also benefit from installing a fence.

Building a fence is an excellent project to take on before you start working on other projects.

Storage Shed

Adding a fence will help you when it comes to building a storage shed on your property. You will be able to place it close to the fence to maximize the open space in your backyard. In your original plans, you may have thought that you would have to rely on artificial lighting in the shed. But, if you end up getting a solid fence, you may feel confident enough to add a window or two.

The main thing that you will need to keep in mind is having a way to bring materials into the backyard. So, you may want to add a side gate that is large enough to bring in oversized items.

Decorations

Before you decorate the backyard, you will want to make sure your property is protected. Even if you do not spend a lot of money on the decorations, setting them up in an open backyard makes it easy for someone to come over and remove them from your yard with little effort.

While the chances may be slim, you will find that the likeliness to go even lower when you have a fence that prevents anyone from being able to walk into your backyard.

Plants

Once you start growing plants in your yard, you will not want wild animals to stomp around or even attempt to eat them. Without a fence, stopping them will always be a challenge. Adding a solid fence will stop most animals from being able to get onto your property. Building the highest fence that you are legally allowed to will stop coyote and deer from trying to scale the fence.

Living Space

If you want to add a patio, gazebo, or pool to the backyard, you should prioritize privacy. You may not feel comfortable going for a swim or having a barbeque with family and friends when all your neighbors can see into your yard and walk up to start a conversation with no barrier.

Adding a fence to your backyard before working on anything else will benefit you in many ways.
